Leckerman Law is dedicated to protecting the rights of those accused of Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Driving After Imbibing (DAI), and drunk driving related criminal offenses. Attorney Leckerman helped to change the law in New Jersey concerning witnesses who collect and test blood samples in DWI investigations. He is certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to administer the same Standardized Field Sobriety Tests used by police in DUI / DWI investigations. He has received extensive training concerning breath testing and blood testing for blood alcohol concentration (BAC) in order to discover the flaws that exist in the prosecution’s testing procedures and results.
Effectively defending DUI and DWI cases requires having technical knowledge and skills that the general criminal defense attorney usually lacks. Often, the prosecution uses the resources of new breath testing technology and forensic laboratory testing in order to prove its cases. Typically, these new technologies and laboratories go unchallenged by an attorney who is unfamiliar with the scientific intricacies involved. It takes constant education and training concerning these varied methods of breath, urine, and blood testing in order to expose the flaws of a prosecutor’s DUI / DWI case. That is why Attorney Kevin Leckerman has exclusively dedicated his legal practice to the area of DUI / DWI defense.
Attorney Leckerman has received training in the methods of forensic testing of blood and urine for the presence of drugs and alcohol, including headspace gas chromatography and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. During his career, he has defended over a thousand DUI and DWI cases involving blood and breath testing devices. The DUI / DWI breath testing devices utilized included the Breathalyzer and Alcotest 7100 MK III-C. He has also received training from the manufacturer of the Alcotest 7110 MK III-C in its operation. This DWI breath testing machine is used exclusively throughout the State of New Jersey. Additionally, Kevin is also a member of the National College for DUI Defense and other DUI / DWI attorney groups that routinely meet throughout the country in order to discuss innovations in defending DUI/DWI clients.
Ocean County is a county located along the Jersey Shore in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Its county seat is Toms River, which, like the county itself, has been one of the fastest growing areas of the state since the 1990s. Ocean County was established on February 15, 1850, from portions of Monmouth County, with the addition of Little Egg Harbor Township which was annexed from Burlington County on March 30, 1891. The most populous place was Lakewood Township, with 92,843 residents at the time of the 2010 Census (up 32,491 since 2000, the largest population increase of any municipality in the state), while Jackson Township, covered 100.62 square miles (260.6 km2), the largest total area of any municipality in the county.
Ocean County is located 50 miles (80 km) east of Philadelphia, 70 miles (110 km) south of New York City, and 25 miles (40 km) north of Atlantic City, making it a prime destination for residents of these cities during the summer. As with the entire Jersey Shore, summer traffic routinely clogs local roadways throughout the season. Ocean County is part of the New York metropolitan area, and is home to many tourist attractions frequently visited by Delaware Valley residents, especially the beachfront communities of Seaside Heights, Long Beach Island, Point Pleasant Beach, as well as Six Flags Great Adventure, which is the home of the world’s tallest and second-fastest roller coaster, Kingda Ka. Ocean County is also a gateway to New Jersey’s Pine Barrens, one of the largest protected pieces of land on the East Coast.
